First off folks, I love to talk golf, but realistically I do not know much about the players. I read alot, play alot of fantasy golf, and love to play at least 3-4 rounds a week during the summer. (funny how much I play does not make me any better, is this the year I break 100......haha) So take my picks below with caution as well as the info. Goodluck with your own bets on this one, I'll update my plays as the tourney continues. Should be a blast.

My bets are going to be for the first round

Cink to beat Weir
Jimenez to beat Sabbatiini
Leonard to beat Crane
Allenby to beat Choi
Monte to beat Fasth

the first two are small doggies and the last three are slight favs.

Below is my bracket with a little write up on each player. This bracket will probably be no where near what will happen as most of these players on a good day could beat anyone else in the field. But, here it goes:

Bobby Jones Bracket.......

Tiger: Won trying to win for 3rd time in last 4 years.
Ames: Just found out he was in the tourney, played well towards the beginning of the season last year then trailed off.
----------------------------------
Allenby: 9 carreer playoffs/ 9 carreer playoff wins
Choi: does not perform well in match play settings......could be a good fade the first round.
---------------------------------------
Campbell: reached the sweet 16 the last two times...... I think he will again
Herron: 2-4 in this event, make that 2-5
---------------------------
Stenson: Very solid golfer
Casey: Starting to play well, but not enough to hold off the swede in this first round.
---------------------------
Appleby: Has not done the greatest here.
Lehman: Might be a nice pick here. He proved me wrong this last week, either way I think both these guys lose in the next round.
------------------------------
Scott: Has done well here, and only here of late. He makes it to the sweet 16 if not to Tiger.
Glover: I do not think he stands a chance in the first round.
--------------------------------
Olazabal: He made it to the quarters 2 of his 4 starts, has match play is impressive.
Jobe: Played well last season...... will be out aftter round one here.
--------------------------------
Toms: He played awesome here last year, him and Olazabal will make an awesome early matchup in the next round.
Poulter: You might want to say that he will have vengence on his mind, but TOms what he did last year, bye bye Poulter.

Woods

Stenson
Campbell
Toms
Olazabal
Scott
Lehman

Ben Hogan Bracket.....

Ernie Els: I had him at 6:5 to win a major at one point last year, it pissed me off that he had to take off early. Anyways I still like the guy but he will not be the man comming out of this bracket. Although I do give him at least one round.
Langer: Once a Ryder cup Captain, now he leaves early to Els in the closest of the 1v16 matchups.
-----------------------------------------------
Cink: He will definately be one of my tourney plays...... I like him to do well in this group, Like him in some matchups as well. He plays alot of match plays and does extremely well.
Weir: If he could make it past Cink I would give him a shot to beat Els, but that will not happen.
----------------------------------------------
O'Hern: Got to love this guy, he and Funk make an awesome first round but that is about it for Nick.
Funk: Does not hit far, but that is alright when going against O'Hern, will be a good matchup but Nick takes a close one.
------------------------------------------------
Campbell: Is a very good golfer that should win 2 rounds here.
Ogilvy: This matchup has close written all over it. got to side with the more experianced.
------------------------------------------------
Verplank: Plays a lot of Match plays..... little to show here. is this the year he comes out here. we'll see
Westwood: does not beat scotty in the first round.
-----------------------------------------------
Howell: Will do well here, should be a great match up with Verplank in the next round. I really think Howell will do well this year.
Elkington: He was in this tourney in 2000 but was out in the first round..... will do it again.
-----------------------------------------------
Bryant: Going against a very long hitter. The dry course will also aid Daly if and when he goes into the rough.
Daly: Daly has a shot at the Ryder cup, but needs to do well here, he plays Lefty in the next round.
--------------------------------------------
Phil: Birdie Machine Faces Cink in the Elite 8......tough one there but I think classic Lefty/Tiger matchup in the semis
Howell III: He is still too weird for me. To computer like. Phil dismembers this machine in the first round.
-------------------------------------------

Round One winners
Els
Cink
Campbell
O' Hern
Phil
Daly
Howell
Verplank

Round Two Winners
Cink
Campbell
Phil
Howell

Round 3 winners
Cink
Phil

Ben Hogan Bracket Winner : Phil Mickleson

Gary Player Bracket......

Singh: Does not do well here historically, but he is one of the top golfers and playing well this year, if he can make it past the first two rounds everyone else better watch out.
McDowell: Not very experianced but did have a win last year vs Clarke. Well Clarke is no Singh, bye bye Graeme.
-------------------------------------------
Sabbatini: good last week, but do not put much into it.
Jimenez: He does well when the birdie is called upon. He will see Singh in round 2.
-------------------------------------------
Harrington: Has not played alot this year, will be interesting to see how he does.
Pampling: Not much experiance with Match-play in general. I give this one to Padraig, but this one is a total toss up, but that does not mean it will be close.
--------------------------------------------
Cabrera: I like him to do well and see Singh in the third round
Lonard: He likes the course but Cabera rolls.
--------------------------------------------
Love III: His game is going to the shits, Don't expect to see him in this one for very long.
Hensby: I really want to pick him, but this is his first start of the season. Love beats him in his welcome back round.
----------------------------------------------
Perry: I like Kenny and lucky for me his opponent is one he whould beat..... notice how I say should.
Pattersson: Very unknown player but has played the Accenture before, nothing really to say, I will be interested in watching this guy for the first time.
----------------------------------------------
Clark: Can you say good value. I am really ready to ride with this guy. Sucks he has to play Dimarco in round 2. Tough to say who will win that one, but the winner has a shot to win the Gary Player bracket.
Olberholser: Won at Pebble Beach and Playing amazing golf, too bad he faces Clark here in the first round.
--------------------------------------------
Dimarco: Any other bracket and he would not have a chance, but in the weakest bracket, I give him a shot. It will come down to who wins between him and Clark.
Calcavecchia: Good par player...... needs more then that to beat Dimarco. expect this one to be close but Dimarco will have control the entire time.
------------------------------------------

Round one Winners:
Singh
Jimenez
Cabrera
Harrington
Dimarco
Clark
Perry
Love III

Round two winners:
Singh
Cabrera
Clark
Perry

Round three winner:
Singh
Clark

Gary Player Bracket Winner: Tim Clark

Sam Snead Bracket.....

Goosen: How can you dislike this guy. Some say that this tourney was built for him, but Tiger will be there in the end to silence all those rumors.
Broadhurst: Who? just kidding, he is actually a pretty good golfer, but come on, just say it with me......Goose Goose Goose.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Leonard: Justin will beat Crane but that is about it in this one.
Crane: Add back injury to the things that will slow down this guy....... sorry no Crane-Sabbatiinni matchups they will both be headed home after the first round.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Clarke: has done pretty well in this event, tough to call now but I think he has a little trouble with the Cowboy from the east.
Maruyama: very good golfer who has struggled the last few years here. I like him to win the forst bracket just because I see both losing to Donald in the 2nd so I can take a chance.
------------------------------------------------------------
Donald: If this tourney was made for Tiger and Goose, then the course was made for this man. I would have him in the final 4 if he were in th e Hogan or player bracket.
Green: gave Toms a challenge last year, should not be that tough this year...... Donald wins with a couple holes to go.
----------------------------------------------------------
McGinley: very unknown but he could play a major role in this one. He has done very well in Europe.
Katayama: To bad this cowboy will fade with the wednesday sun.
--------------------------------------------------------
Montgomerie: Will he win? No but he will make for a very good match vs McGinley.
Fasth: Complained before about too much travel. Well he must cross the big blue Ocean again, better buy his return tickets for thursday.
-----------------------------------------------------
Couples: Finally a guy from my neck of the woods and he is playing well. I like him to make some noise. Possible elite 8 match, but very doubtful, he needs 3 very good days to get there.
O'Hair: Not playing well, these are two golfers in total different directions. This 2nd year guy will be going down early.
----------------------------------------------
Furyk: Not doing as well as some forcasted him this year, he is still playing good golf. Expect him to be playing the goose in the elite 8.
Johnson: He needs to do well. To bad he is playing another player who loves this course.
--------------------------------------------------

1st round winner:
Goosen
Leonard
Donald
Maruyama
Furyk
Couples
Montgomerie
McGinley

2nd round winners:
Goosen
Donald
Furyk
Montgomerie

3rd round:
Goosen
Furyk

Tiger Wins the Tourney!!!

I got Tiger Defeating Phil in the semis and Goose defeating Clark.

I have Phil taking third though I cannot see either player playing very hard after an exhausting 2 rounds on saturday and being very disappointed.

I have Tiger Winning the Tourney vs Goose

GOOOOOO TIGER........ usually do not cheer for him, but he either played alright playing sick, or dropped from the touney to get ready for this week. Either way I think he takes this one home.

Don't underestimate Glover, he will give Scott a run for his money. Look at his stats and starts this year. Nice write ups man. Thanks for posting them.

no prob, this is fun for me.

I'll go back over glover's stuff. I cannot imagine Scott losing to him, but then again he probably will now that I said that. I didn't think there was any value in betting scott in the first round, but I have him getting through it. I'll be watching Glover when they show him. good luck today with yours, I have not read your write ups but will go do that right now in the other thread.

It seems with match play, if I player is 1 up after 10 holes, he can just play for pars the rest of the course and make his opponent go for a birdie, thus increasing the risk for the opponent to bogey. Overcoming a 2 hole deficit seems impossible. Am I correct?

well as I suspected this day would yeild alot of stuff I did not suspect to happen. (if you can follow that). But a winning day none the less if it is only so small. 3-2 on the day. The Leonard match sucked, I took on alot of juice for that one. Dogs put forth a good showing. I have a bunch of basketball stuff to do, but will be back later tonight with who I like for tomorrow.

By the way anyone know a site where I can get projected round scores from today and projected birdies/pars/bogeys from todays rounds? Does PGATOUR have it somewhere?

Picks for round 2:

Monte over Katayama
Campbell over Stenson
Howell over verplank
Cabrera over Harrington
Olazabal over Toms

The first two are good sized favs and the last three are dogs. Find the best lines you can as always.

I am also taking Tiger at 3-1. granted he was playing exceptionally well today and I am acting a little on impulse, but his odds will only drop and I may try and sell back a little of this later, but for now he looks very solid.

Good luck tomorrow!

Thanks alot man,
you should definately do your own stuff if you got time. I heard you did very well last year. This is mainly fun for me, I make my cash in CBB and CFB. I do love this tourney and try and read whatever I find on it. If you ain't got time go for it cause I have tried to do my research and feel very confident with what I got. But if not we should compare notes. Good luck tomorrow brotha.
